If you must use these garbage batteries for some reason, never store the device with the batteries… they WILL leak, guaranteed.įurther worth noting… about four years ago I had two Duracell 9volt batteries actually explode… apparently the way they are made, if they leak while being stored upright they will short out and overheat with a possibility of exploding. Just today my daughter found a year old package of Duracells in my mother-in-law’s house where half the batteries had leaked without the package even being opened… they have a expiration date of 2028. The majority of the others were either BJs or Costco brand alkaline… of those two out of twenty leaked with only a few of those leaking as horribly as the Duracells.
